Kanye West - 808’s and Heartbreaks - Heartless

I’ve got to say, when I first heard the songs that were leaked off of this album I was worried that Kanye was going to release some experiemental piece of work that didn’t fit together at all. After listening to “808’s and Heartbreaks” I am extremely impressed. Kanye has taken a different approach to his sound by combining singing and rapping together to provide a more melodic tone on this album. Like I said, I wasn’t crazy about this at first but after awhile it has grown on me. I was not a fan of Kanye utlizing the “auto tune” effect on his voice but since then have been trying to understand how he is trying to use it in a different way that creates a pretty amazing sound. He’s not the best singer around, but he doesn’t have to be. The music and his catchy melodies provide entertainment for people of all music tastes. Even though Kanye West is quite egotistical, you have to hand it to him for creating something worth listening to. This is a style I didn’t expect to hear from him. Job well done…

Don’t like it yet, maybe it’ll grow on me. Graduation is still the best rap album ever IMHO.

I think it refers to a bass drum from an older drum machine.
