I would like to take back my comments from last week about USC being “Sick Nasty”. Yes, they are a team filled with NFL caliber players and are exciting to watch, but last night we saw an early season loss that may keep USC out of the National Championship. I don’t know whether to think if USC is overrated, if OSU is really that bad, or if Oregen State is a legit team and the PAC-10 isn’t that bad?
USC is overrated as a team. They have lots of talent and athletes at every position, but as we saw last night they could not put it together for a full game. OSU might be even worse then expected and Oregon State might be a little better then we thought. Still, the PAC-10 is weak. This loss hurts USC more than a conference loss would hurt Georgia, Florida, or LSU in the SEC. This loss helps a team like UGA more than just the fact they will jump USC in the polls, but if UGA is handed a loss by one of the opponents on their brutal schedule, UGA has a much better chance of being a one loss team in Miami since their loss would most likely be from a top 10 team, and USC’s loss would be to a weak PAC-10 team.
People ripped on UGA for not beating GSU, CMU, and South Carolina more soundly causing a drop in the poles. At least UGA is winning! As I questioned before, how are voters going to react to a USC loss to a weak PAC-10 team and a possible UGA victory over a top 10 SEC team in the same week? I think if UGA beats Bama by 2 touchdowns or more, they could possibly jump Oklahoma and take over the number one spot. You also have to consider that Oklahoma is playing a top 25 team this weekend in TCU. If Oklahoma’s explosive offense goes off on TCU, expect them to be number 1. It would be pretty sweet though to see Oklahoma lose this weekend too and have UGA, Florida, and LSU at 1,2, and 3 next week.
Everyone be sure to powder dem balls tonight because DJ Hot Sauce is about to bring that fire tonight! Get ready for a Bama Beatdown tomorrow!
